The Pretty Reckless formed in New York City in 2009, fronted by Taylor Momsen, then best known as an actress on the television series Gossip Girl. The band's debut album Light Me Up (2010) made clear that Momsen's musical ambitions were serious and her band was capable of backing them up — heavy, blues-influenced hard rock delivered with a directness and attitude more consistent with the 1970s rock tradition than anything contemporary. Subsequent albums Going to Hell (2014), Who You Selling For (2016), and Death by Rock and Roll (2021) each produced multiple Billboard Mainstream Rock number-one singles, making The Pretty Reckless one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the past fifteen years on radio terms.

Momsen's stage presence — all long blonde hair and focused intensity — combined with the band's guitar-heavy, straight-ahead rock approach draws direct comparisons to Zeppelin and Sabbath while feeling entirely contemporary. Opening for AC/DC on the Power Up Tour is the kind of bill placement that validates a decade and a half of rock radio credibility, putting The Pretty Reckless in front of the exact audience that has been their spiritual home since the beginning.
