Lainey Wilson
Appearing in: chicago, detroit, cincinnati
Lainey Wilson grew up on a farm in Baskin, Louisiana and moved to Nashville at nineteen with virtually nothing, spending the better part of a decade writing, performing, and developing before her debut album Sayin' What I'm Thinkin' (2021) found the audience it deserved. The album's delayed success — driven in part by country radio support for singles like "Things a Man Oughta Know" — introduced Wilson as a songwriter with a specific point of view and a voice capable of delivering it with real conviction. Her follow-up, Bell Bottom Country (2022), named for her signature flared-jeans aesthetic, won the Grammy for Best Country Album.
Wilson's brand of country music is rooted in the storytelling tradition, built around characters and situations drawn from real life and delivered without the smoothing-over that modern Nashville production sometimes applies. Her live performances are known for their warmth and immediacy — Wilson performs like someone who spent a long time earning every room she plays in and intends to make each show worth the wait. Opening for Chris Stapleton on the All-American Road Show positions her alongside an artist who navigated his own slow-build path to mainstream recognition, and the similarities between their approaches are audible in the music itself.
