I Prevail

Appearing in: houston, austin-san-antonio

I Prevail formed in Detroit, Michigan and attracted their first significant attention with a 2014 cover of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" that went viral long before the band had any mainstream profile, introducing their dual-vocal approach — clean singing from guitarist Brian Burkheiser and aggressive vocals from Eric Vanlerberghe — to an audience that extended well beyond the metalcore scene. Their debut album Lifelines (2016) capitalized on that moment and debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, an extraordinary placement for a metalcore debut.

Their 2019 album Trauma is the record that established them as a serious long-term proposition: it addressed mental health themes with a directness that the heavy music community responded to strongly, and it demonstrated songwriting craft that could operate at both the intimate and arena scale simultaneously. Post Human-era metalcore was shifting toward more produced, polished sounds, and I Prevail's trajectory was consistent with that — bigger production, more melodic ambition, without losing the heaviness that defined their early releases. The band has continued building toward festival headliner and arena opening act status, and their slot supporting Three Days Grace on the Alienation Tour in 2026 is consistent with that progression.
